Deb Lew

Swing dancing since: 2003

Deb started dancing in 2003 in the Washington DC area. She has been on the Fidgety Feet dance team since 2006, dancing with her husband Bob. Deb is a former member of the award-winning Collegiate Cats Shag dance team and the Centuries Dance historic dance team. She has studied dance with some of Lindy Hop's greatest icons from the 1940s, including Frankie Manning, Jean Veloz and the Irene Thomas. She continues to master many of her favorite dance styles, from the Lindy Hop, Shag and Balboa to vintage dances such as the Castle Walk, Animal Dance styles and the Peabody. Debbie and Bob have won awards in the Swing Fling Lindy Division and were judges at the Virginia State Open (VSO). She manages the Fidgety Feet website as well as the site for the Potomac River Jazz Club, which highlights trad jazz music. Debbie also teaches specialty classes in collegiate shag, charleston, and dance variations for GottaSwing as well as at private events, and she sews many of her vintage inspired costumes.
